The CAP National Action Plan for MMIWG2S+ people is in response to the release of the 2019 Final Report of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. Consulting its PTO’s, CAP heard from a vast array of Peoples’ and cultures about how to address MMIWG and 2SLGTBQQIA+. 2021 CAP MMIWG INTERIM REPORT

Nearly 80% of Indigenous peoples live off-reserve in Canada today, and experience widespread discrimination. Off reserve status and non-status Indians, Métis and Southern Inuit peoples are amongst the most socially and economically disadvantaged groups in Canadian society, an unfortunate reality deeply rooted in colonialism and its impacts.   Read the interim report here. 2020 MMIWG SUMMIT: SUMMARY OF FINDINGS

In response to the release of the 2019 final report of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (NIMMIWG), the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples held the 2020 MMIWG Summit in Ottawa, Ontario on January 13-14, 2020. FINAL SUBMISSIONS TO THE INQUIRY INTO MMIWG

The Congress of Aboriginal Peoples participated in the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (NIMMIWG) as a party with standing in the proceedings. As a party with standing CAP contributed to the expert and institutional hearings and advanced arguments respecting the legal imperatives underpinning Canada’s obligation to implement the Inquiry’s recommendations with due diligence, in good faith, and in a manner that upholds the Honour of the Crown.
